When you create a planting plan, FarmManager checks the planned crop in real time against the previous main crops on the same field. Violations of configured rotation rules (e.g. oilseed rape within 4 years of the previous one) surface with severity — info, warning or violation. Monoculture is detected automatically from three consecutive plantings onward. Custom rules per crop can be added freely.
Flag planting plans as catch crops for greening and DüV Annex 4. Pick the termination method — frost kill, autumn/spring mulching or autumn/spring incorporation — and the carryover is used automatically in the fertilizer demand calculation. Catch crops are correctly skipped in the rotation chain, so they don't break it.
After the season, capture the actual harvest date, harvested quantity, quality grade (e.g. bread wheat, feed grain), water content and harvest notes per planting plan. Yield per hectare is computed automatically from quantity and field size and surfaces in the statistics as a cross-year, cross-crop comparison.
Track irrigation, fertilization, harvests and other events. View all details for each field, automatically track costs in FarmManager and plan future activities. Optionally record the machine used, operator, area worked in hectares and hours worked per activity.
Capture temperature, humidity, wind speed, precipitation and general conditions for every activity — especially fertilizer applications. The weather log is archived alongside the activity and provides the proof required by DüV documentation rules for spreading events.
Maintain lab soil samples per field with sample reference, lab (e.g. LUFA), soil texture, pH, humus percentage, plus P₂O₅, K₂O and MgO in mg/100 g following VDLUFA. Three Nmin layers (0–30 / 30–60 / 60–90 cm) sum automatically into the total Nmin value. The 6-year DüV validity is tracked with a status badge and an "expired samples only" filter. The most recent sample feeds the field's DBE automatically.
Automatically calculate N, P₂O₅ and K₂O demand per field based on crop, target yield, previous crop, catch crop, soil texture, Nmin value and humus level. Currently based on the LLH Hesse reference values (DBE workbook v5.2), including the Hessian “offtake-only fertilization above 20 mg P₂O₅/100 g” rule. Nitrogen carryover from last year's organic fertilization and three-year compost history is factored in per DüV Annex 3. Additional German states are in preparation.
Maintain organic and mineral fertilizers with full nutrient content (total N, NH₄-N, P₂O₅, K₂O, MgO, S). Use system templates for common farmyard manures or capture your own analyses — chargeable nitrogen is calculated automatically using the DüV minimum-credit rate.
When fields lie in a nitrate vulnerable (“red”) zone, FarmManager automatically reduces the permissible total N by 20%. You can redistribute the remaining nitrogen across fields — both the original per-field cap and the reduced total are validated live.
Plan multiple fertilizer applications per field with date, rate and unit. Applied N, P₂O₅ and K₂O are calculated automatically and compared to demand. Statutory N and P closed periods (“Sperrfristen”) appear directly in the team calendar.
One-click generation of the per-field annual fertilization balance per DüV §10 (Annex 5). Demand, applied amounts, balance and the 170 kg/ha organic-nitrogen control value are produced print-ready for the 31 March filing deadline.
